Jacqueline Moore, a native Floridian and small business owner, is passionate about community, people and possibilities.  She is a seasoned leader.  Her strengths of vision, relationship-building, communication and constancy of purpose bring an exciting perspective to government.  She is action and goal-oriented, inclusive, and engages people to imagine and mobilize toward their goals.  She is a 10-year North Port resident, graduate of the North Port Leadership Institute, and certified civility and governance consultant with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. She is currently serving as the Mayor of the City of North Port in General Seat 4 to which she was elected in 2014. Her 2016 campaign is underway for her home district seat, District Seat 2.

During Jacqueline’s 33-year career in telecommunications, she held positions in several operating companies in the US under what is now AT&T, including Bell South International.  These included: Strategic Planning Manager; General Manager of Wireless Quality and partner liaison with cellular start-ups in Europe and Central and South America; Marketing Transformation Liaison; and Consumer and Small Business Operations and Staff Support Leader.  She has led teams and designed, developed and delivered learning processes focused on customer service, sales, personal development, team building and change management.  She has a broad background in leadership development, assessments, and coaching.

She has experience in budget processes, possesses interpersonal finesse, and is fluent in Spanish.  She has worked on capacity-building projects locally with Vision North Port; the North Port Economic Development Corporation; the SW Florida YMCA; Village On The Isle; and Warm Mineral Springs, among others.  She volunteers with organizations focused on literacy, early childhood development, education, and access to healthy and abundant sources of nutrition.

In her 19 months in office, Jacqueline’s accomplishments include:

  • Helping to focus the process for acquiring an acute care hospital
  • Planning, funding and hosting community building conversations with hundreds of citizen participants and colleagues from around the region including County commissioners and Economic Development professionals
  • Leading the way to get commission focus on affordable housing, expanded tree ordinance, and creation of a food policy to enhance quality of life and eliminate hunger in North Port
  • Serving as the City representative on County and Regional boards including
    • Manatee-Sarasota Metropolitan Planning Organization; supported the prioritization of the River Road widening project
    • Florida League of Cities Growth Management & Economic Affairs Committee
    • Community Agency Action Board (CAAB)

Jacqueline holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Metaphysical Science and numerous professional certifications and has accrued significant hours of college level study.  She and her husband, Hugh, actively enjoy the Florida lifestyle and engage in projects and community-building activities that bring them a strong sense of purpose and well-being. They enjoy family and friends, music, continuous learning, and enriching activities like tennis, dancing, and sailing.
